A COMPLETED APPLICATION IS OUR FIRST STEP TOWARD ANY ADOPTION.  YOU WILL FIND IT ON OUR WEBSITE AT www.colliesheltierescue.org.  WITHOUT THAT APPLICATION, WE HAVE NO PLACE TO BEGIN A CONVERSATION.  PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION AND THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR ADOPTION.  A SECURELY FENCED YARD, A GREAT REFERENCE FROM YOUR VETERINARIAN, A HOME VISIT OR DIGITAL PHOTOS AND A FABULOUS PHONE INTERVIEW WITH OUR DIRECTOR.

Kimi is a lovely blue merle rough coated Collie.  She is a spayed female and is 8 1/2 years old.  Kimi is a sensitive girl and does not like raised voices or harsh words.  She has been raised with a number of other Collies and gets along just fine but would not mind being an only dog either.  Nothing makes Kimi happier than playing with stuffed toys.  She carries them around and tosses them in the air and bumps you in the tousche with them to initiate play.  That is a rare quality in a senior Collie.  But Kimi also wants her space and won't crowd you like some Collies are known to do.  She is unusual in that respect.

Sweet Kimi is UTD on vaccines and will have a heartworm test and blood chemistries and complete CBC by the time you read this bio.  That will be in preparation for a dental cleaning.  We have never met a senior Collie that did not need her teeth cleaned.

She has not arrived at Doggie Central yet but will be here by the end of the week of April 18.  We hope to have just the right match for her even before she arrives.  Senior dogs need that extra reassurance of humans who will love them unconditionally.  Previous Collie adopters will be given special priority.

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
