Learn more about the Shetland Sheepdog Sheltie.
These two darling tri-colored Shelties are littermates and only a year
old. Our director tagged them Mutt and Jeff with Mutt weighing in at
10# and Jeff at 25#. They are recently neutered and completely
up-to-date on vaccines and have all the extras like being microchipped
with Home Again microchips and groomed by our fabulous RMCSR groomer,
Suzie. Because they are so very bonded to each other, we will be
placing the boys together.
Mutt and Jeff came to us from a puppy mill in Missouri and they had no
skills. They are gradually learning that human contact is a good
thing and that the humans provide all the wonderful things in life.
It is fun to watch their eyes light up at small tidbits of high value
treats. The fact that they are both food motivated will make their
rehab a bit easier. But make no mistake, Mutt and Jeff are not just
two little Shelties looking for a new life. They carry the baggage of
the neglect that they suffered at the puppy mill. These boys need the
teaching of a confident and kind doggie sibling to help them learn all
the things a dog ought to know in addition to kind and patient humans.
Please.......only apply if you have the resources to help make Mutt
and Jeff turn into "real dogs."
Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Policies and Guidelines and, if we sound like the right group for you, proceed to the online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously. Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
