Maria Canina is a VERY special girl! Maria was spotted by an RMCSR volunteer in a shelter in Spain. Yup, that is what we said, Spain. When she inquired about rescuing Maria she was told that she had been in the shelter for THREE years! Our volunteer was so moved by her story that she began the long, challenging process of importing Maria to the United States.
Maria is a tri-colored spayed female smooth Collie mix, perhaps mixed with Husky. She is about 5 years of age. She is house-broken and crate-trained, and we are working on her obedience commands in English. Living in a noisy shelter for three years was probably very stressful so she would be best suited as a single pet in a household with no small children. She is healthy, incredibly affectionate, playful and self-assured. Maria loves to run and jump in piles of snow and could be the right companion for an active couple or as a best friend for a single person.
maria_2wIf you think that Maria would be the perfect addition to your family, please complete the online application which you will find on our website. We will contact you for a chat and let Maria read the application too.
Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Policies and Guidelines and, if we sound like the right group for you, proceed to the online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously. Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
