Learn more about the Shetland Sheepdog Sheltie.
Toby, the senior tri-colored Sheltie is a hoot! Toby Toes is a nine-year-old neutered male Sheltie that is becoming all the dog he can be. When he got neutered and also lost his five remaining teeth, he seems to have gained a sense of humor. The little fellow's name was Toby when he was in the puppy mill although he had no idea he had a name. But from the first moment, I went into "Dr. Suess mode" and started calling him "Toby toes with a Toby nose and wherever Toby goes, he's got those Toby toes." And he would cock his head and look at me as if to say, "Somebody get the butterfly net! This lady has gone around the bend." He still looks at me the same way after six weeks of vet care and socializing and snuggling. But he is making lots of good progress and will play with the other "littles" and even try to snag a toy with his toothless gums. Toby will need another small-ish dog that will be the leader for him to follow. He is kennel trained and pretty well housebroken as long as the human is vigilant. He likes all other pencil-nosed dogs (Collies and Shelties). And he is very fond of his Sheltie wife Bria who came out of the same disgusting puppy mill. But Bria needs a strong leader as well and placing them together may not be best idea. It is important for puppy mill survivors to emulate healthy behaviors rather than neurotic ones. As often as I say this, PLEASE DON'T REQUEST INFORMATION ON TOBY OR ANY OTHER RMCSR DOG WITHOUT A COMPLETED APPLICATION, I am making that request again. It wastes everyone's time to correspond about the availability of a dog if a prospective adopter has not gone to our website and read about the organization. Thanks for thinking good thoughts about Toby Toes.
