Amy is the 8-week-old puppy of Kentucky Blu-grass Mama who came to us from a high kill shelter in Kentucky.  Poor MamaDog was so horribly malnourished that we feared for her survival long enough to even give birth.  But she gave birth just a few hours after she arrived in Colorado.  

A "wisdom panel" showed that all of the puppies were a combination of Collie, Border Collie, Australian Cattle Dog and White German Shepherd.  We think that the Collie and Border Collie are predominant in little Amy.  She has delicate features and the curly fur that billows around her face makes her irrisistable.  She just needs to be kissed!  

Amy has had a first distemper/parvo vaccine and been wormed twice with strongid.  RMCSR will continue her vaccines and spay her when she is about six months old.  According to the latest veterinary journals, it is best to delay the spay beyond the 4 month old date that has traditionally been used.  Six months gives her bones a stronger density and some experts are waiting until the one year mark.  But waiting until a first heat increases the chances of mammary tumors.  So six months is the target!

Amy loves the companionship of other dogs, cats and kids.  She has spent time with a three-year-old boy that adores her and carries her around.  And a teenager has been around Amy since she was born.  Please don't tell the other puppies, but we think Amy is the "pick of the litter."
