Hello!  My name is Miri, which is short for Miracle.  I am a 5-year-old spayed female blue merle rough Collie, and I am looking for a very special family because I am a special needs dog.  I am super sweet, fully vetted, housebroken and love hanging out with my foster mom and her fabulous Collie Casey.  I usually spend my days lounging on my bed, sunning myself on the deck if the weather is good and doing typical Collie stuff like checking for crumbs on the floor.  I'm not real active because when I was a little puppy I had a head injury but I need folks that will keep me moving with gentle walks.  I have recently discovered the joys of T-touch.  My foster mom has been studying T-touch on the Internet and she called Hope one morning and said, "Miri has awakened!"  The stimulation of gentle hands all over me has made me feel alive!  I don't let my disabilities stop me even though I am blind in my left eye, a little hard of hearing on that same side and I walk with a little shuffle.  I would love a stay at home mom or dad, with a one-story house that is easy for me to navigate.  I have a passion for eating, so I am on a low calorie diet with fresh veggies added.  I also take thyroid meds every day and need a couple of drops in my eyes twice a day.  Easy Peasy, huh?  My foster mom says I blossom every day and make her smile, so I think I would make a great family member with your love and patience.  But remember, I am not just a pretty face.

The first step toward any placement is a completed adoption application which you will find online at www.colliesheltierescue.org.  Without a completed application, there is no place to start a conversation.

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
