Annabelle needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping her get a new start? leash reactivity
ONLY POTENTIAL ADOPTERS WITH GREAT PYRENEES EXPERIENCE WILL BE CONSIDERED. AND A COMPLETED APPLICATION, WHICH YOU WILL FIND ON OUR WEBSITE, IS OUR FIRST STEP TOWARD ADOPTING BELLA. www.colliesheltierescue.org Having a Great Pyrenees appear on a Collie and Sheltie Rescue website may seem a bit unusual to you but RMCSR always has a soft spot for a hard-luck story. Bella lived with a homeless woman who tried her best to care for herself and her dog. But Bella was not getting the care she needed. She was posted on Craigslist for $100. And that is how a Great Pyrenees became a Collie. Bella is a 4-year-old spayed female Great Pyrenees that has gone from 38# to 44# in the time she has been with us. She is heartworm negative and her bloodwork is great. Up-to-date on vaccines and microchipped with a Home Again chip. We had no choice but to shorten Bella's coat when she arrived and it took multiple hours for 4 volunteers to get her looking like a white dog again. And although she was not thrilled with the process, Bella seemed to know our intentions were good. That big, sweet dog made friends with us immediately. It did not take long for Bella's foster mom and dad to fall under her spell. They have always been Sheltie folks but they agreed to bring Bella home and see how things went. Most of this bio will come directly from the foster mom, Alida. "Bella is so affectionate and playful and funny. She is smart and pays attention to our conversations although she can be a bit stubborn (inherent in the breed). The only destructive behavior she has displayed is the occasional decapitation of a stuffed animal! Her house manners are good. She understands quite a few words and her commands have been strengthened by private dog classes and the group class she is attending now. The behavioral training is specifically for leash reactivity and, although she has made progress, she will need ongoing work for this issue if she is going to hop into the car and go places. And she loves to go for a ride!" As you can see in the photos, Bella wants to be a lap dog. If I can figure out how to do it, I will include a video of Bella and her foster dad Jim playing one of her favorite games. This big floof has a favorite chair for napping and usually starts out the night on "her chair" but toward early morning, crawls into bed with her mom and dad for a good cuddle and thorough belly rub. On Great Pyrenees websites, you will find a tag line that is very descriptive of the breed. "Dis-a-Pyr" reminds owners to use caution when Pyrs are off leash and wanting to use their own judgement. Bella will require a fenced yard to run around in, especially for potty trips, but would also like a large property to call her own. Her huge bark will be an early warning system to alert her humans to visitors. Oh, the joys of big dogs with huge paws! WE WILL NOT EVEN CONSIDER FOLKS WITHOUT GREAT PYRENEES EXPERIENCE. PLEASE GO TO OUR WEBSITE AND READ ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION. AND IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BELLA, COMPLETE THE ONLINE APPLICATION.
