THIS SHELTIE IS A PUPPY MILL SURVIVOR.   IT WILL TAKE TIME AND PATIENCE  FOR HIM TO BEHAVE LIKE A "REAL DOG."  IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE TIME OR THE PATIENCE, PLEASE LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR A DOG.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT UNDERSOCIALIZED DOGS AND HOW TO HELP THEM REHAB, YOU HAVE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE.

A COMPLETED APPLICATION IS OUR FIRST STEP TOWARD FOSTERING OR ADOPTING.  YOU WILL FIND IT ON OUR WEBSITE AT www.colliesheltierescue.org.

Carebear is a work in progress with great potential.  He is a 3 or 4 year old mahogany sable male Sheltie that has a bigger frame and should weigh about 40 #.  He weighs 31# right now and is getting used to regular meals.  Today Carebear had his first dog biscuit....and WOW!  He has not been neutered yet but will be before he is adopted.  He has had all of the necessary vaccines and has a Home Again microchip.  Even his lifetime database entry is included in his adoption.  All of his medical care is on us.

When I said that Carebear had his first ever dog biscuit today, I neglected to mention that he leaned forward and kissed me on the nose very gently.  When you build a bond with a neglected canine, that bond is a "through thick and thin" connection.  Carebear would love you like nobody's loved you, come rain or come shine.

Let's talk.

Good with Dogs, Good with Adults, Quiet, Requires a yard, Cratetrained, Timid, Intelligent, Gentle

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
