About Skye

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Sable
  • Housetrained: Yes
Skye is a lovely and spirited sable and white rough coated Collie. She is about 1 1/2 years old and has been spayed and vaccinated. She is heartworm negative and her baseline bloodwork is pretty good for a dog that needs to put on 15-20 pounds. But a crummy past will not keep Skye from having a magnificent future. A young and active Collie like Skye will need a family to match. She would love to go for walks and hikes, play catch in the backyard with the kids and the other dogs and then settle back in the evening after a busy day and watch a Lassie movie. In the fall, when the temps have dropped, Skye would love to take some agility lessons (after completing Levels 1 & 2 of obedience) and dazzle everyone with how smart a Collie really is. Collies are not for everyone. Their coats will need weekly brushing to keep looking fabulous. Collies are gentle dogs that adore their humans and would be sad to be kept away from them. As I type on the computer, the floor of my study is littered with resting dogs, all waiting for me to decide what happens next. And when I get up from my chair, my little gaggle of dogs will accompany me. LOL Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Policies and Guidelines and, if we sound like the right group for you, proceed to the online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously. Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
