It is hard to believe that this magnificent sable and white rough-coated Collie was abandoned. Whatever are humans thinking, I often wonder.
Kiowa is the loveliest and dearest young adult Collie. She is a spayed female, heartworm negative, completely up-to-date on vaccines and microchipped with a Home Again chip. She will arrive in your arms with a complete file of all her medical information as well as a dog bed (provided to her by one of her fans) and the toys and treats she enjoys the most. Kiowa has never met a stranger. Men, women and children are adored equally by her. Toddlers will never find a truer friend than this sweet 55# lovable dog. Whatever activity is going on...she will join right in. And she deserves to be a full-fledged member of the family. Off to school with the kids in the morning, a brisk walk with mom in the morning, picking up the kids on the playground after school. In between, Kiowa would shine as a therapy dog in a children's hospital or an agility prospect. She will willingly do whatever is asked of her. Ed Russell (trainer to the stars!) says that she is one of the smartest dogs he has ever met. And I concur.
We will be looking for an active family for Kiowa that is willing and able to help her be as close to "Lassie" as a Colorado dog can be. She would be lonely and unfulfilled as a dog in a backyard. And we will not let that happen. Kio is helping me to write her bio on the computer. And she will be reviewing the adoption applications herself. (The Director will probably help with that.)
