A gentle girl in excellent health, 12-year-old Allie has been microchipped, is spayed and house trained. She is at her optimal weight of 72 pounds. She is heartworm negative, and she is current with all required vaccinations other than rabies, which will lapse on January 18, 2015.
Allie is a loyal girl that will be at your side whenever the opportunity arises. She yearns for your companionship and affection … which I believe is due to her not receiving much of either in her younger years. Her foster family affectionately calls her “grandma” because she seems as though she would be perfectly content to spend her day in the canine equivalent of a rocking chair… so long as you are near by. However, if the opportunity presents itself she is also willing, and able, to go for a nice leisurely walk. She is very good on a leash, content to mosey along and take in the scenery. She is not distracted by critters or cars, as she’s been there, done that… she’s merely out for a stroll and some fresh air.
Allie requires a bit more attentiveness, patience, and time when she goes outdoors to take care of potty duties. At her age such things just take a tad more time to accomplish.
AllieAt times Allie is not as steady on her feet as she once was (boy can I relate) yet in an instant she may start barking at her foster siblings as if to challenge one and all to a game of chase. Her foster brothers and sisters have also reminded her that it’s okay to bark at strangers and critters and such, which she now does quite persuasively… so she might just be a reliable watch dog too (when she’s not sleeping).
Allie’s size may seem somewhat intimidating to toddlers, but she is a mellow girl and very patient with children. Six years and older is best suited to her temperament. She travels well in a car for short trips but extended trips are an unknown. Cats are also an unknown, but I suspect she will be fine with them too. She has not shown a fear of thunderstorms, fireworks and such.
Allie will be a delightful and loyal forever friend. As for now she is patiently awaiting one insightful person or family that will give her the love and affection she is so fond of, one that will have the fervor to walk gracefully with her through life’s adventures … Forever.
