About Toshito

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Sable
  • Housetrained: Yes
Toshito was named after a much beloved Collie, Tosh. And since Toshito was a smaller version of Tosh, he became "smaller Tosh" or Tosh-ito. The name did not slide easily off my tongue for the first few days and for that reason, the boy answers to "Tish-Tosh" and other goofy similar nicknames. He just smiled back at me with that crooked, adorable Collie grin and asked what time dinner would be served! Tosh is slightly older than his Collie pal, Mac Gregor, perhaps 7 or 8. He is sweet and companionable and, I thought, calmer than Big Mac. But this morning he made a liar out of me when he went zooming around the backyard chasing a bird in the air, with his tail flying, at about 90 MPH. He came in from the run with that same goofy grin on his face, grabbed a toy and danced toward the master bedroom to show my husband what he had. Tosh just took a little more time to feel at home here. I imagine they are both missing their "mom" very much. His sable and white coat is starting to look better with regular brushing and lots of hands on him. A groomer once told me that a well loved dog has a sheen to his coat from the lanolin in the owner hands stroking him regularly. That makes sense if you think about how many times you caress your pooch. Tosh has been groomed and had his vaccines updated. He is microchipped and neutered and had one half of his dental completed. Both he and his brother will have the completion of their dental work done in short order. As I said in the bio of Toshito's buddy MacGregor, we are hoping that the boys will go to a forever home together. But we will consider separate homes if the right match does miraculously appear in a reasonable amount of time. The universe works in very mysterious ways.

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
