About Kiss Me Kate

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Sable
  • Housetrained: Yes
Sweet, playful Kiss Me Kate is a 10-month-old, 29-pound smooth-coated, sable and white Collie pup with the perfect Collie temperament. She loves to be pampered, she loves to have fun and she lives to eat. On occasion she may exhibit a tendency towards shyness, while at other times she can be somewhat of a nervous girl. Likely residuals from her abusive treatment prior to joining our rescue. With patience, lots of love and understanding and time, each characteristic will fade and she will be all the she was born to be . . . the perfect dog. Kiss Me KateKatie’s intedelicate grace. As she sees it, every new day simply must begin with playtime. She likes to run, and will often do so going one direction as fast as she can, only to turn on a dime, and do it all over again in the opposite direction. On occasion she may choose to playfully roll about on the cool grass after a hearty run, or she may opt to frolic about with an older pack member or two, using them as surrogate “sheep” as she seeks to perfect her natural herding instincts. Her gracefulness and agility are such that to see her prance is as if to see poetry in motion. Katie is house trained and spayed, has a microchip and current Rabies tag, and is up to date on her vaccines. Her teeth are white as the driven snow, her eyes as keen as a hawk’s. She is taking medication for Dermatomyositis, a hereditary inflammatory skin condition that necessitates her being on a life long medical management regimen. She will need basic home schooling on the common commands such as sit, come and stay. She will also need to be schooled on the proper manners while on a walk. She does fine in a car, though she tends toward nervousness the longer the ride. She has not tried to jump over or dig under the fence though she could easily do so. Kate is pure puppy on the lookout for the perfect Forever Home, preferably one with a large yard to romp around in. It would be best for her if there were someone at home to keep her company as she does have a tendency towards barking. She does very well with other dogs, and well-mannered children, 5 years and older.

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
